Before I start expressing myself in this highly opinionated article about “Ed-tech” landscape of this country and the hype created by these companies, let me give you some numbers that are published by MHRD, the ministry responsible for the Indian education system.
As per MHRD report of 2016 (yes, that’s when they counted last for enrolment in Indian education system), India has more than 260 million students.
Child malnutrition is a big blot in India’s growth story. While the world is lauding India for its growing economy, bold reforms and hordes of investors are drawn towards the world’s second largest emerging market due to its population dividend, India is fighting an internal battle to control child malnutrition and provide a healthy growth to every child.
Whenever I discuss ideas about education platforms, about ed-tech companies or anything related to education sector in India, the foremost thing that is mentioned by everyone is “Dude !!! Indian education system sucks …” . So, like all other tech guys, a couple of years back, my natural tech instinct poked me to google “Problems with Indian Education System” (Go ahead, you can google it now also.
So, you have been thinking about MBA for quite some time now ? Suddenly you have noticed that so many people around you are pursuing MBA and then, everyone is changing career options or hopping jobs to get a better profile. You have also started thinking that you are getting limited in your current organization and you need to do something like an MBA to grow further.
So, you are a working professional (most probably IT professional), who has a decent salary. But you have realized that you don’t enjoy technical life and may be you should move into management. Also, some of you may be facing mid life crisis. By now, you already have done many trainings in all the organizations you have worked for.
So, you know about SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle). And you have studied that boring book on software engineering. You don’t give a damn to the development model whether it is Waterfall model or Spiral model. And if you are new age engineer, you don’t even care about the new term “Agile”.
Every now and then, you’ll see this message on some websites..
“The URL has been blocked as per the instructions of the Competent Government Authority/ in compliance to the orders of Court of Law.”
And this will make you feel something strange but then, you ignore it because the way it happens, you feel may be you did something wrong.
Hiring is an integral part of any company. Be it a startup or a large MNC, both cannot survive without hiring and the opposite of it, Firing. But the HR managers struggle to get the right candidate to fill in positions. You would have heard it many times that any decent position hiring takes at least 100 people to be interviewed to hire one right person and firing is much more painful.
Exactly the way many entrepreneurs sit in their room and spend the night….
If you are planning to take the leap of faith, then you would have heard this line from many entrepreneurs and if you are an entrepreneur (whether failed or successful), you would have been through this or may be still go through this everyday.
